An MVP is not an unfinished product. It is the smallest usable version that can test an important assumption with real users. Good scope reduction preserves the complete core journey while postponing convenience features and rarely used functions.
This guide helps separate the goal from the feature list, select the first user journey, prioritise work and define the feedback that should guide further development.

The first version should test an important business or user assumption. Describe whose problem it solves and what observable behaviour would justify further development.

- Identify the primary user and their single most important goal.
- Map the steps from the starting point to successful completion.
- Retain background features essential to the workflow's security and operability.
- Rare exceptions can be handled manually, but document this and estimate the work involved.
3. Divide features into four groups
| Csoport | Decision rule |
|---|---|
| Required | Without it, the core journey is incomplete, unsafe or unlawful. |
| Important later | Adds value, but the initial assumption can be tested without it. |
| Convenience | Improves speed or presentation, but an acceptable manual workaround exists. |
| Most nem | Solves a different user problem, or lacks supporting evidence so far. |
4. Do not skip the less visible essentials
- Sign-in, permissions and access revocation.
- Error states and clear user feedback.
- Logging, backups and basic monitoring.
- Privacy information and required consents.
- Check mobile and other devices your users actually use.
- A support or manual intervention option.
5. Decide what to measure in advance
- Choose a primary outcome metric, such as successfully completed journeys.
- Measure drop-off, errors and the need for manual assistance too.
- Define the pilot duration and number of users.
- Prioritise observed obstacles in the next development cycle, not automatically the oldest feature ideas.
